After polishing vs. before polishing

Steps:

1. Clean the surface:
Wipe the countertop with a soft cloth to remove any dirt and debris, rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a clean cloth.

2. Evaluate the scratch: Determine the depth of the scratch. For light scratches, the finer 240-grit and 400-grit abrasives may be sufficient. Deeper scratches require coarser abrasives first.

3. Sand the surface:
Deep scratches Sand deep scratches first with the coarsest abrasive pad or sandpaper (150 grit). Work from left to right and top to bottom in a circular motion and apply even pressure. Gradually switch to finer abrasives (240 grit, then 400 grit) to smooth out sanding marks from the previous step.
Make sure to cover the entire area with each grit stage to blend the finish.

4. Polish the surface:
Apply a small amount of abrasive polish designed for solid surface to a clean, soft cloth or polishing pad. Polish the surface in a circular motion, applying even pressure. Continue until the surface is shiny and all sanding marks are gone.
Wipe away excess polish with a clean cloth.

5. Final cleaning:
Remove polishing residue with a damp cloth and clean the surface.
